The Bot's Beret is a headwear item in Portal 2. It is a round red beret with a short bit on top.
There is an unused alternate backpack icon for the Bot's Beret that can be found in the files of Portal 2. This version of the beret is brown instead of the red version as seen in the game. Its textures, along with the textures for another unused yellow version, can be found unlisted in Portal 2's vpk files.
The unused icon
The brown texture applied to the Beret. Note the broken UVs.
Ditto, this time with corrected UVs.
The equally unused yellow texture applied to the Beret. This time, the UVs did not have to be corrected.
- This style of beret is actually a Basque-styled beret, introduced in France and Spain during the 19th century. They're mostly worn as part of the uniform of many military and police units worldwide, as well as by other organizations.
