== A Wiki Hat? == | |||
I guess that if we want the wiki to be supported by more players we should add a Portal 2 ingame wiki hat :) |
Revision as of 09:01, 10 July 2011
This page is not for general discussion of Portal or the Wiki. It is for conversation pertaining to the Main Page itself. Please use the following alternatives for general discussion:

Gentlemen
We have come thus far; the front page is looking splendid.

- I agree, though I have two gripes with it.
- 1) Who typed "Valve" like this for the main page links?
- It should be "Valve". The uppercase version with the smaller sized "E" is just a logo, nothing more. I see things like "VALVe" and such being written entirely too often elsewhere.
- 2) The yellow tint color for the background of the box tables looks strange. Yellow, no matter how desaturated, isn't really in the color scheme of Portal (ignoring instances such as the yellow portal for the co-op partner and other instances). Overall it's grays, blues, blacks. Clean colors. With the overuse of the blue elements on the Wiki's theme (the logo the links etc), yellow looks out of place. -- Benjamoose (talk | contribs) 20:17, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Tried to address the colors; I'm no expert designer, so please feel free to tweak them further. I do believe it's an improvement though :3 For further reference, not all colors are on MediaWiki:Common.css; some are in style attributes on

Template
May not use this template Template:ExtendedIndex, and use the template as Team Fortress Wiki. At other languages a problem with translation of this template. Namely 1 and 3 column. --Nik9990 Talk | Cont 18:37, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
- Then whack some langs on the end of the links like you do on other links. – Smashman (talk) 18:56, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Facts
Not the place to ask, but where can i edit the currently featured facts, Richard Lord was just a placeholder for Wheatley. --Latin Geek 15:51, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Vector Skin glitch in IE9
Now, I can't exactly explain what's going on, but every time I've loaded this Wiki on Internet Explorer 9, it's failed to load the Vector skin altogether, until I change my user agent string to Chrome, FF, Opera, even the Bing Bot string works, but the default user agent string failed to load the skin at all. I believe it's an issue that should be looked at, since it also appears to affect IE7-IE8. --Swertmastra
- Thank you for your concern; we are aware of this problem, it is caused by MediaWiki. We are awaiting the next MediaWiki patch, hopefully they will address this issue.
— minip 05:33, 12 June 2011 (UTC) - * A new MediaWiki patch has been released; this issue is now resolved.

Translation of Logo
Is it able to translate main logo in sidebar and in header? And MediaWiki:Sidebar too? If it is, here they are (russian):
Gl0BuZ 18:24, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
- Will do as soon as a Russian editor can confirm this translation. Wouldn't want a homepage with profanity or stuff on it, I hope you understand :3 — Wind 02:06, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I do. By the way, You can trust me. I' m from STS ;-) Gl0BuZ 03:54, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

- Done~ — Wind 05:33, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. As I see, it isn't possible to translate main logo, is it? — Gl0BuZ 05:43, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
- Would be possible to make some little piece of javascript to replace it on every page after the page loads, but that's not the most elegant solution. I'll poke seb about it — Wind 05:44, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Blog posts
Are you going to make Current Events such as in tf2 wiki? I mean, blog posts here — 05:08, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- If they turn out to be regular enough, yes. Otherwise, it'd look kind of stale — Wind 05:17, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Contest page
I have russian contest page — http://portal.steamtranslation.ru/videocontest/ Where I can use it? :) — 16:29, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- Feel free to add it to the russian translation of Portal 2 Music Video Contest - RJ talk 16:50, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
The Gels
Hello! I noticed that the Gels are not display in the "Mechanics" part of the main page. I think, if it's not a forget, the Gels page is more important than for example the High Energy Pellet page, wich is only present in the first Portal (and Portal is in my opinion considerably less played than Portal 2). So, is a change needed here ? Thanks for reading. Jay 18:49, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Sixense DLC now available.
As the title states, we need to get some articles up. I'd work on some myself but I've got college really early and I'm already up way too late. Steam News announcement, Store page.
Food for discussion:
- How should we document the DLC
- A seperate game, like how we deal with Portal: Still Alive
- Or a section on Portal 2
- Perhaps consider is a "Game mode" - like there's Single Player, Co-op and then Sixense.
- Related to above, how should we document the extra test chambers.
- Also, I hope some of you have one of these Hydra controllers; else it's gonna be tough to document.
- RJ talk 01:36, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- The fact that it is discrete from P2 and requires a particular piece of hardware indicates to me that it should be considered to be a separate product. That being said, much of the Wiki's current material can be re-used verbatim, but video walkthroughs, etc would be another thing entirely. -Esky 01:41, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
- The controller is $140/€140 so yea, unlikely any of us own one :S Which is a shame as some of the levels look quite good. Perhaps we could extract them somehow.... —Mussekateer·talk 01:43, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
"I want to upload a picture of the Scalable Cube with a white background just like the other Cube pics, but i can't upload the image! >:( Toolbox doesn't have such a feature" - LambdaCore 21

Super 8 in Portal 2
Hey, uh. When are we gonna get to the Super 8 topic? There's an interactive teaser in the Extras --Breakin' Benny 15:08, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
