Portal Spawners, also known as Portal Doors are test mechanics that appear in Portal and Portal 2's single-player campaign.

Overview

The devices react in test chambers by creating a portal that links with any portal created by the Portal Gun. Usually, the color used by the spawner is the orange portal.

They appear at the beginning of both games, when Chell is either lacking the Portal Gun or only has a single-colored Portal Gun. Often, the spawners would need to be activated by a timer, a button, or by entering the test chamber.
