Goo[1], also known as Toxic Water, Acid, and Hazard Liquid, is an environmental hazard present in both Portal and Portal 2. It is red, green, and brown-colored liquid with a swirled appearence. Any contact with goo will result in continuous damage that eventualy kills the player within a few seconds. It is usually present in order to provide a penalty for failure, and to ensure that players are precise with their movements and positioning of their Portals.

Items that fall into goo are unretreivable. In such cases where an object such as a cube is needed to solve test, a replacement will be issued if the first one is dropped into goo.
