An electricity field.

The Electricity Field is a circuit capable of electrocuting and killing the player whenever active. It switches on and off periodically, forcing the player to wait until it's safe to enter. It was introduced in Portal: The Flash Version, and later appeared in Portal: Still Alive's Challenge Maps.
