The character articles on the Portal Wiki must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure clarity and relevance to the character of the article's subject. Also noted is the typical structure a Character article should follow.
Guidelines
The character article must...
- contain information that is known to be fact according to the Portal franchise.
- We are a factual wiki, we do not document speculation.
- answer the questions:
- Who is this character?
- Why are they in the Story?

Structure
Introduction
Every article has an introduction. This introduction is a brief overview of the character, who they are and what they do.
History
The history section documents what we know about the character and how they came to be in whatever situation they are in. This section should not be used to tell the Story of the franchise.
References
The references section is used to document any reference to the character in relevance to the Story, that is not relevant to the characters history. For example, Cave Johnson is referenced in Portal by one of Rattmann's Dens; this belongs in references as it is irrelevant to Cave Johnson's history.
