Test Chambers are a vital part of the Portal series. They are how GLaDOS can track Test Subject's movements/progress thanks to the Security Cameras fixed onto the walls of Test Chambers at various points. There are multiple Test Chambers throughout The Enrichment Centre. However, in Portal 2, they are almost created as your progress through the chambers by GLaDOS/Wheatley using robotic arms carrying plates which combined with other plates form the ceiling, walls and floor of the chamber. This new method of creation allows for an almost infinite combinations of test chambers within the enrichment centre. A Test Chamber upon entering one has a bare, minimal feel to it, similar to a hospital with its sterile environment, this is due to the lighting used within chambers, and also the colours of the plates as well.
