Hi there
Hi and welcome to the wiki. Thanks for the edit~ (Not really sure if it's correct but I'll trust you on that) — Wind 06:51, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the welcome, and also thanks for drawing my attention to my totally lazy research. Interestingly, while my edit is correct insofar as the katakana transliteration of 'aperture', it does not appear to be the version most used with regard to Portal, so I'll edit that.
- Since you're a main contributor, I'd like to ask your opinion on including a melodic translation of Still Alive in the Japanese, that was used along with Vocaloid to create a Japanese cover of the song, alongside the literal translation already provided. I'm not sure whether that's something this Wiki would be into or not.
- Anyway, you probably won't see much of me, but thanks again for the welcome. I look forward to making totally random and out-of-the-blue contributions once in a blue moon. Michael von Preußen (talk)
- I'm guessing that said japanese cover is fan-made and not official, and if so then it shouldn't be covered. Otherwise we get into all sorts of debates about what's fan content and what's not (there is some pages on fan-made content on this wiki, but only when they're really unskippable).
- It'd also pose kind of a problem as to how translations are supposed to be done; this wiki follows the structure of the Team Fortress Wiki in which all non-english pages must be a translation of the english page; they can't have independent content on them. This is in order to reduce the human cost of maintaining the wiki; if each language has its own content, then we need a lot more oversight on every page and good moderators for every language, which we simply don't have in either the Team Fortress Wiki or the Portal Wiki. If all non-english pages are translations, then there's no such burden. Thus, a japanese cover of the song would need to be covered on the english article before it could be covered on the english page, and then that means it should also be covered on all other languages as well. And a japanese cover wouldn't really be of relevance to all languages... therefore no, it's probably a better idea to not mention it. Feel free to include it on the talk page or something though.
- Also, keep discussions on the page they started on, it makes it easier for everyone to follow. Thanks~ — Wind 07:13, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, I'll keep this in mind. Michael von Preußen (talk)
