Trading is a scrapped mechanic in Portal 2, supposedly similar to that of Team Fortress 2's trading system, where players could trade cosmetics and items. For unknown reasons, this mechanic was scrapped, likely due to a lack of interest in Portal 2's CO-OP and cosmetic mechanics. Thus, it was never complete, and the "Trade" button was removed in the Feburary 18th patch.
