Talk:Chapter 12
Legitimacy
Not sure how legit this content actually is, I created a Chapter12.cfg in my game and this did not pop up. Portal: Prelude has something called Testing complete, so it may be part of that mod which gets put into regular Portal if you create the config file.GrampaSwood (talk) 17:44, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- I don't actually have Prelude on my computer, are you sure that you're on the Steam version of Portal? I also checked CWTH, which I did have, and there is no such chapter in the game. I even typed sv_unlockedchapters 100, and nothing showed up. I also tried typing sv_unlockedchapters_ep2 0, sv_unlockedchapters_episodic 0, and sv_unlockedchapters_hl2 0, but they still persisted. I also found 2 more chapters that were of 2 Overwatch Elites standing behind a forcefield, and the other one is just the HL2 logo. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by PSF 22:33, 22 December 2025 (talk) • (contribs)
- I also did a full clean install and I can confirm that it's still there. And also, the "Testing complete" reference was in the game's language file. Can you try clean-installing yours and checking that the reference is in the language file? You can find it at Portal\portal\resource. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by PSF 22:52, 22 December 2025 (talk) • (contribs)

- Yes, I'm using the Steam version and a clean install. Prelude didn't have anything to my findings either, but neither does just adding chapter12.cfg. What file name did you find this image under, does the .cfg contain anything? 'Testing Complete' feels weird to have as a cut chapter name when all other chapters are just named 'Chapter [number]'.GrampaSwood (talk) 22:10, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- Deleting Portal via Steam won't delete your cfg folder. Please try to delete it and make sure that the game folder is completely gone, then test again. I also followed the page's instructions and I can confirm there's nothing there.
- The string "Testing complete" does exist, but seeing how it was translated into other languages, it may just be a message that's meant to be visible when you finish all chapters? Its token being named just like a regular chapter name is odd (
Portal_Chapter12_Title), but token names don't necessarily have hard rules. — Tark 22:19, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, I just realized it's a left-over chapter from Half Life 2, so it is sadly not an unused chapter. Sorry, should have looked into this more, I got a little too excited I guess. :\ When one of the mods doesn't have the assets, it looks into other mods, and that's why that happened. - haha that's completely fine. Being excited about something you like is normal, and it's also a bit confusing that deleting a game doesn't remove the entire game folder, so that's not 100% on you either.
- Thanks for replying so quickly. — Tark 00:19, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
