Talk:Chell

Discussion page of Chell

I've added the entire history of Chell, I'm not sure how to add the "header" to the page that indicates to readers that the page is very spoiler heavy and might want to turn spoilers on. Someone wanna add that for me?

Trivia

The trivia doesn't seem to be trivia, but observations and speculations. Shouldn't it be moved to a 'notes' section or something? --Vaught 03:34, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

I got rid of the one about the comic since it's obvious as long as you've read it. The one about the last name was entirely speculation so I removed it as well. I've kept the one about the potato experiment because although most people probably noticed it, they may not have noticed that it was done by Chell. I know I didn't until it was pointed out. I've also kept the one about the turret opera since it is completely hidden to anyone who doesn't speak Italian. Originally, that trivia item stated that the song implied that Caroline was Chell's mother. While there is no evidence to support that, calling her "my dear" over and over and saying it is a pity that she must leave does imply a deeper connection than the tester/testee relationship the game's narrative indicates. As such, I modified it. – Alex   2539 (t · c) 04:11, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah, much better. Thankies! --Vaught 04:13, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Official Personality Test Info

The official Aperture Science Collaborative Disposition Test describes Chell as:

“Resolute and tenacious, you won’t quit until a puzzle’s solved. Your inability to give up against impossible odds makes you a bad match for cooperative test partners who give up against any odds at all, racing to the internet for answers."

I'm not sure what section this information best goes under, so I'll just leave it here for now. - MewtwoWarrior 02:17, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Maybe you could put it in a Trivia section but I'm really not sure, better wait for other answers (and if it's added, other characters should too). Tturbo 21:30, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Either that, or (probably better) create an article about the quiz that describes what each answer says — Wind 21:31, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
I like the idea of having a separate page for the quiz and then maybe link each character that's in it to their part? I've put all the character results on each character's page that's in it. What do you think is best for it? ^_^ - MewtwoWarrior 21:59, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Is perfect~ — Wind 22:02, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Awesome! :D Do you want me to set it up or do you want to? I haven't made a page on the wiki before, so I'm not sure of the procedures. - MewtwoWarrior 22:04, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Go to the page you want to create as if it existed, like http://theportalwiki.com/wiki/Collaborative_Disposition_Test, then press Create and there you go~ — Wind 22:06, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Oh, okay, thanks! ^_^ I'll get to work on that! If I have any more questions, I'll let you know. ^_^ - MewtwoWarrior 22:09, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
This information is now found at the Collaborative Disposition Test page. - MewtwoWarrior 22:59, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Name

When is her name ever mentioned in the games? And just in case it's at some point in Portal 2, don't tell me which part, 'cause I haven't beaten 2 yet. :P --Mystyr Nile 22:56, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

In the game files, in Valve interviews, everywhere that is not the actual game itself. I agree it's uncanny, but it's still pretty accurate — Wind 23:13, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Chell's Adoption

So, I see that it is still considered unclear if Chell's adoption is real or just GLaDOS's demeaning words toward her. I have done my own research, and I will prove it right now. Chell is, indeed, adopted. How have I figured it out? Well, it's pretty simple. GLaDOS told us.

You might say "But her words could be fake", but let me bring this up to you. When she was a potato, she said the lines "This potato only generates 1.1 volts of electricity, I literally do not have the energy to lie to you." That is just a normal line, right? Well, as a potato, she said something else. When the character doing Wheatley's test, he tries to belittle the player like GLaDOS does, but she defends Chell. He mentions that the player is adopted, either trying to mimic the used-to-be towering machine or he is saying truth. What does GLaDOS say to this?

"For the record: You are adopted, and that's terrible."

GLaDOS still does not have the power to lie to you, nor does she have a reason or want to put down your spirits. Why does she say this? Because it's true.

I apologize if I had done something wrong in this, this is my first time ever doing this kind of thing- adding a new discussion.
