:::So, should the unused lines from all the different chapters just be dumped at the end in their own section? Do they get any mention or ref/link as to where they came from/were to go? (I know the strikes are messy looking - it was just my working, er...process.) I know, for instance, on the Cave Johnson voice line page, there are some unused rants with the parts of it that made it into the game bolded. On GLaDOS's voice line page, the unused lines largely have notes as to what they were supposed to be (ex. "computerized voice" versions of the "low voice" boss fight rants used in Portal [1], lines referring to different unused content). Hm, so at the cost of easy side-by-side comparison within chapters, should they be categorized first under "unused" and then again by chapter/source? —[[User:Cartoonmaster|Cartoonmaster]] 04:19, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

:I think something like this would be ideal:
  == Chapter name ==
  {{tlx|hatnote|Some unused voice files were created for this chapter (with a link to the section anchor)}}
  === Test chamber x ===
  {{tlx|hatnote|Some unused voice files were created for this chamber (with a link to the section anchor)}}
  * Voice line 1
  * Voice line 2

  ...

  == Unused ==
  === Chapter name ===
  * Voice line line meant to be use in this chapter but not in any particular chamber (''Explanation as to why'')
  ==== Test chamber x ====
  * Voice line meant to be in chamber x but unused (''Explanation as to why'')
  === Misc. ===
  * Voice line that isn't used nor fits in any particular chapter (''Explanation as to why'')
But I'm not sure it would be applicable to all voice line pages, so I dunno, but at least it provides an easy link to the unused voice files for each section. Having them within each regular section would be more handy perhaps, but it would also get messier with the explanations about them being cut. — [[User:WindPower|Wind]] 05:15, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

Oh hai

Why hello there~ May I ask what this page is about? Just curious, given that there is Wheatley voice lines? Is it an attempt to organize them in meaningful sections? In this case, that's quite welcome~ — Wind 07:12, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Mmyes - with as much as I've been coming back and clicking around in Wheatley's voice lines (I guess I must really like listening to him talk :P), I noticed it was not organized at all and could really use some order. Only after I decided (and started) to work on it sorting myself did I notice a couple other people were doing the same:
Category:Voice_lines -> User:The_Awesomatorist, User:Traen.
Hm. Well, actually, it looks like there hasn't been all too much work duplicated already, and any differeing "assets" from each page could be easily merged. Looks like Traen's done a tremendous job, covering what seems to be all the chapters worth of dialogue.
I think what will happen now...would be sorting in the rest of the unassociated/unsorted lines (Traen's "IDK where these go" section) at the bottom of the page, and any checking and tidying/tweaking it might need. I could help with that, and go in and reorder & verify against the in-game and in...-code files. Yes, that sounds good. :)
Oh, we should definitely make a note on Wheatley's voice line discussion page so more people don't accidentally start over again without knowing there's existing work in progress. I'll go do that now.
Question, though - I've noticed that with other character voice lines, it seems to be common between them to dump all the unused (alternate delivery/cut) lines at the end. I don't know if that was a purposeful standard or more of a natural result of the "miscellaneous" leftovers being left at the end. When I started, I just grabbed all the lines attached to the chapter, ordered them, but left the associated unused files in where about they were meant to go since I found it interesting seeing how they influenced (or simply didn't make it to) the final dialogue. —Cartoonmaster 02:47, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
That's either a coincidence or people reorganizing them. The voice file articles were originally the work of an automated script that simply reads the game's subtitle files and makes articles out of it. That's how there's so many translated versions of all the voice lines (imagine how tedious it would be to translate and type that all up in all languages). Then some people take time to curate the lists a little, like you are~ So thanks for doing that and keep it up. You can use an {{ambox}} at the top of the page to write a note, or just use the regular page itself as "sandbox", as long as you keep the edits clean (which isn't the case right now, because of the strikethough'd lines). Also please respond on your talk page, I am watching it so I will get the responses, and it keeps conversations in one place. — Wind 03:00, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
D'oh, I forgot about the wiki "watch" function. I've spent too much time on other sites since I've last spent any significant time editing on wikis. Thanks for fixing my goof.
Alright, um... Yes, I meant on different people simultaneously and separately working on reorganizing his voice lines on their own sandbox pages in userspace. I only happened across them because the editors left the original pages' categories intact, which included their userpages in the categories.
So, should the unused lines from all the different chapters just be dumped at the end in their own section? Do they get any mention or ref/link as to where they came from/were to go? (I know the strikes are messy looking - it was just my working, er...process.) I know, for instance, on the Cave Johnson voice line page, there are some unused rants with the parts of it that made it into the game bolded. On GLaDOS's voice line page, the unused lines largely have notes as to what they were supposed to be (ex. "computerized voice" versions of the "low voice" boss fight rants used in Portal [1], lines referring to different unused content).
