== Asked about the "Portal: TFV mappack" ==
I was really getting into the mappack and wondering if I can create pages about individual levels from "Portal: The Flash Version MapPack". I have a ton of info and will be mentioning secret hatches and adding pictures.

:You might want to add those information at the Portal: The Flash Version MapPack page itself ~ <span style="color: blue; padding: 3px; border: 1px solid black;">Headquarter</span><span style="color: orange; padding: 3px; border: 1px solid black">8302</span> 23:51, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
::That is a good idea, thanks. But I was wondering if there could be individual pages made for every level, maybe like the Portal: Still Alive levels, that you can find in the big list on the bottom of every page, but I wouldn't mind adding stuff to the main page itself. bobanchoban77/frapsed 10:20, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
::: I think that would be acceptable. Just make sure to follow our Test Chambers Coverage Guidelines. — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 21:15, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
:::: Okay, thanks for the confirmation. bobanchoban77/frapsed 08:55, 5 April 2022 (UTC)
== The Wiki has been Hacked ==
I have recently went on to this wiki to look at Wheatley's character page. It turns out that that page and several others had been changed by someone who doesn't seem to have an account anymore, and they took out ALL information on these pages and replaced them with random messages. To anyone in charge: Please fix this. I just wanted to find some knowledge and I was met with nonsensical messages, and as someone who looks at this wiki a LOT, it would be appreciated if the original pages could be restored if possible. Thank you if anyone indeed listens to this. - Sincerely, AJSloth707 (April 15th, 2023)
: Hello! The issue has been resolved. It was just a spammer causing trouble. Sorry for the inconvenience. — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 21:52, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
This is bad. Real bad. It seems this wiki has been hacked AGAIN with almost no way of bringing everything back to normal. Matthew250 (talk) 04:02, 13 June 2023 (UTC)

== New Citizen skin == | |||
I've noticed via RC that we're creating resource pages for the Citizen skin. We've also installed it it seems. How does one preview it? Using <code>?useskin=citizen</code> doesn't seem to work. ~ <span style="text-shadow: 0 0 .075em currentColor; font-weight: 900; font-family: 'Open Sans', 'Noto Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 110%"><span style="color: blue">Headquarter</span><span style="color: orange;">8302</span></span> 02:30, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
: It was <s>(accidentally?)</s> included in the latest software upgrade. It's super broken but you can enable it by clicking "Mobile view" in the footer (or by accessing the wiki through a mobile phone).
: <s>We don't have the man(n)power to maintain it (heck, we barely have the manpower to keep the articles up to date :'() so I'll check if we can disable it.</s> — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 03:25, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
:: Looks hella cool though... ::: Not much of a fan of turning it into the default theme, I think our current look is quite iconic (and better on desktop).
::: It will take some time to make it look right since lots of templates use in-line styling, but I'll look into slowly updating it whenever I have the time. Feel free to use this topic as a "request area" for issues with this skin. — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 18:55, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
== Anyone here? == | |||
Just got here, and it seems completely dead. I'm sure there's nobody editing anymore, but still, it's just weird.

::Indeed. All that's left are tedious maintenance tasks, cleanup here and there, and monitoring of the occasional new edits and vandals. You can safely guess that the wiki will come back alive when Valve does something again, but that's not often, and it's usually because of a broken update. ~ Markus, <span style="font-family: 'Open Sans', 'Noto Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 125%">Headquarter8302</span> 00:15, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

== Potential renaming of test chamber pages ==
Currently, all of the test chamber pages are simply named based on the game title, chapter, and chamber number, for example Portal 2 Chapter 4 Test Chamber 18. While this is technically sufficient to differentiate chambers, in practice it makes trying to find pages for specific test chambers nearly impossible. Nobody remembers chamber numbers, and many players don't even look at the signs to begin with, so trying to find the page for a specific chamber usually boils down to just clicking through randomly until you find the one you're looking for (on a wiki which already seems to struggle with server issues and is often slow or unresponsive).
However, all of the Portal 2 chambers and many chambers in mods actually have descriptive names, originating from the Challenge Mode UI and map filenames. In fact, many of the test chamber pages on this wiki already list these names as part of the infobox! (e.g. see the page I linked above) With that in mind, it seems logical to rename the pages to use these names when available. The challenge mode names could be used directly, while map filenames in mods would need to be "prettified" (replacing underscores with spaces, removing prefixes, and changing to title case). These names are far easier to remember than numbers are, and also usually give a basic description of the map, so even if you didn't have them memorized you could still look at "chapter 8 - funnel polarity" and determine that that's probably the map where reversed funnels are introduced. This would help to make finding test chamber pages easier, and potentially reduce server strain as a result of users not having to click through as many different pages.
Not all maps have these names available (particularly in Portal 1 and mods for it), so those maps would just continue to use the current page naming scheme, perhaps with slight changes. Portal 1's maps are fairly easier to remember by number anyway (since the whole game is on a single continuous testing track), so this should be fine. I also personally think it would look nicer to remove the chapter number from the page titles and purely use the game title and map name separated by a dash (e.g. "Portal 2 - Funnel Polarity", "Portal - Test Chamber 13", etc). This could potentially cause problems though if a mod had two maps with the same internal name in different chapters, so it would need further evaluation.
All the existing pages would be kept as redirects, so old links would still work. I'd like to hear people's feedback on this and if there's any reason it shouldn't be done or things that should be done differently than suggested. - VRadExe (talk) 00:24, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
: Sounds neat. I propose just using a redirect for these new titles, or moving the old pages to these new titles and leaving a redirect for them (if such changes are not feasible or wanted by the site staff). ~ Markus, <span style="font-family: 'Open Sans', 'Noto Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 125%">Headquarter8302</span> 00:38, 16 August 2025 (UTC)
:: I'm personally fine with the way things are currently (naming convention is defined here), and since there are hundreds of chamber pages, I don't think moving all of them to new locations is worth the effort just for aesthetics.
:: If the names are easy to remember, we can always use redirects to guide people to the right locations. — <span style="font-weight:bold;color: #5BC236">Tark</span> 19:55, 17 August 2025 (UTC)

== No images == | |||
The whole page seems broken. All of the images are gone (dead links) and the homepage is reduced to just "<html><head></head><body></body></html>". I got an error upon logging in. Is someone griefing again or was there a server error? Derp (talk)
