La première fonction de l'ascenseur d'encouragement est de permettre au joueur d'accéder aux zones qui lui seraient normalement inaccessibles. Les ascenseurs d'encouragement sont traditionnellement activé lorsque le [[Heavy Duty Super-Colliding Super Button/fr|Bouton]] correspondant est activé par le joueur, et s'élève lorsque le joueur se trouve dessus. certains ascenseurs d'encouragement n'attendent pas le joueur pour s'activer, et ces plateformes sont généralement activées à la fin d'une [[Test Chamber/fr|Salle de Test]].
