Frankenturrets (referred to as such in the developer's commentary, no official name is given, though they could possibly be called "box creatures", as they are called this in the game's sound files) are hybrids of Aperture Science Weighted Storage Cubes and two Sentry Turrets made by Wheatley during the course of Portal 2.

Overview
Trivia
*

*When picked up, they tuck their turret bodies and legs into the cube, like hermit crabs; the term "hermit" is used in the related animations. It is also interesting to note that their form of locomotion is very much reminiscent of hermit crabs.

*

*The turret heads on the cube are not consistently patterned. Occasionally they will be missing half or all of their plating.

*If placed right side up, they attempt to headbutt Chell, to no effect.

*

*

*

*Whenever Chell picks one up, they tuck their turret legs in and shiver, looking visibly terrified.

*

*

*

*Unlike normal turrets, the turret portion of a Frankenturret cannot be destroyed by lasers,

Behind the scenes
* The developer commentary notes their withdrawing into a cube was initially just to make them be cubical when picked up, but it was so cute they added shaking animations and wide-eyed reactions to the turret to make the player sympathize with their plight.
Wheatley, previously known as the Intelligence Dampening Sphere, is a personality core of masculine programming and English West Country accent who appears in the single-player campaign of Portal 2.

He serves as the game's deuteragonist, guiding Chell through her efforts in escaping the Aperture Science Enrichment Center.

Wheatley is voiced by British actor and comedian Stephen Merchant.

Background
Prior to the events of Portal 2, Wheatley took charge of maintaining the Extended Relaxation Center - which houses test subjects in long-term cryogenic stasis before and after they are put through the testing courses. However, what he has done to actually manage the entire wing remains unmentioned. It was only until many centuries later that Wheatley decided to escape the facility. To accomplish this, he attempted to gather help from any remaining test subject that managed to last centuries after running out of cryogenic supply. Luckily for him, Chell was one of them if not the only one that lasted.

Wheatley is first seen during the very beginning of the game during the chapter The Courtesy Call, wherein he removes Chell from her Relaxation Vault and puts her into one of the old testing tracks, so she can find a Handheld Portal Device and help him escape. After she acquires the device, he meets up with her and detaches himself from his management rail to accompany her to the Central AI Chamber so they can access an escape pod to the surface. He uses his compatibility with the Enrichment Center's systems to allow passage through a testing chamber's backstage.

The Party Escort Bot or Party Associate, is a mysterious pink-eyed core and android that was originally cut from Portal until it was later added into the game's ending as part of the March 3, 2010 patch.
Since the patch was added to bridge the gap between Portal and Portal 2, Chell is instead slowly and unwillingly dragged back towards the facility by the unseen Party Escort Bot as it thanks her for "assuming the party escort submission position".}}

The Party Escort Bot is seen briefly in the Portal 2: Lab Rat comic and was only partially depicted, revealed to be a core-based android with a pink eye.

Like most Aperture robots, the Party Escort Bot possesses a mechanical tone of voice.
Its earliest known appearance is in GLaDOS' ruined chamber, where it lays slightly to the left of what could be described as GLaDOS' head; its second known appearance is underneath a floor panel in Test Chamber 02.
Hoopy's fourth appearance is in one of the randomly-chosen exit corridors in chambers created with the Perpetual Testing Initiative. It is seen by noclipping into the ceilings of the exit corridor, although it doesn't appear in every one.
