The '''Adventure Sphere''', also known as '''Rick''', is a corrupted [[Cores#Personality Cores|personality core]] of male programming who appears in the single-player campaign of ''[[Portal 2]]''.

{{Spoiler|He is one of the cores retrieved by [[GLaDOS]] for [[Chell]] to attach onto [[Wheatley]], in attempt to initiate a core transfer procedure via corrupting his control of the [[Cores#Central Core|central core]] body.}}

The Adventure Sphere speaks in the manner of a stereotypical "tough guy", spending most of his time boasting about his bravery and lust for danger. Upon seeing [[Chell]], he flirts with her and makes increasingly chauvinistic comments. He even tries (but to no avail) to convince Chell to take a "lady break" {{spoiler|while he deals with Wheatley by himself}}.

Rick, along with all the corrupted cores, is voiced by {{W|Nolan North}}.

* {{Spoiler|When [[GLaDOS]] sends him up for Chell to attach, he is hanging and swinging on a wire, in a manner not unlike that which would be expected from an archetypal adventurer coming to the rescue}}.
* The Adventure Sphere at one point makes reference to his supposed many black belts in various martial arts, including "Larate". Larate was first mentioned in the [http://www.teamfortress.com/war/saxtonhale/poopyjoe.htm hidden webpage] of the [[tf2:WAR! Update|WAR! Update]] in the Valve multiplayer game, ''[[tf2:Team Fortress 2|Team Fortress 2]]''.

If you listen to the Adventure Core for long enough, he will make a comment about getting Wheatly to say "you have been a thorn in my side long enough!" listening to this line will add 2 new lines of dialogue. Once for Wheatly, and one for the core. Wheatly's line triggers when you attach the Fact core to him saying "You have been a thorn in my side long enough!" The Adventure core responds "well this thorn.. is about to take you down! Man that sounded better in my head..."

In ''[[Portal]]'', '''Hoopy the Hoop''' was a hoop fallen from the sky {{spoiler|among the wreckage of [[GLaDOS]] at the end of the game. Hoopy landed on the [[Aperture Science]] parking lot in front of [[Chell]] just before being dragged off by the [[Party Escort Bot]].}}

As stated in an interview with [[Valve]] on [http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2010/03/10/opening-the-portal-exploring-portal-s-creation-and-its-ties-to-half-life-2.aspx?PostPageIndex=3 "Opening The Portal: Exploring The Game's Development"], they never expected "The Cake is a Lie" to become such a huge hit. The developers expected, if anything, that Hoopy the Hoop would become the meme derived from ''Portal''.

Erik Wolpaw explains, "We thought we should have a warehouse full of Hoopy t-shirts and mugs and posters…we would watch that hoop roll by over and over again. That was the part of the game we were most proud of, and nobody cared."

Hoopy's in-game code is glados_gib_10.

Hoopy is known to appear in a few places within ''Portal 2''. Its earliest known appearance is in [[Portal 2 Chapter 1 Her Chamber|GLaDOS' ruined chamber]], where it lays slightly to the left of what could be described as [[GLaDOS]]' head; its second known appearance is underneath a floor [[Panels|panel]] in [[Portal 2 Chapter 2 Test Chamber 2|Test Chamber 02]]. {{spoiler|It then makes its third known appearance behind a desk in [[Doug Rattmann|Rattmann]]'s den in [[Portal 2 Chapter 2 Test Chamber 6|Test Chamber 06]]; this is the same den as referred to by the [[Achievements#Portal 2|Final Transmission]] achievement.}}
Hoopy's fourth appearance is in one of the randomly-chosen exit corridors in chambers created with the [[Puzzle Maker|Perpetual Testing Initiative]]. It is seen by noclipping into the ceilings of the exit corridor, although it doesn't appear in every one.
