Panels is a video which was released by Valve on March 24, 2011 in order to promote Portal 2. The video takes the form of an Aperture Laboratories investment opportunity video, and uses a combination of Aperture Science's hallmark animations and pre-rendered footage in order to showcase the many uses of the Aperture Science Panel.

Chell, documented as Test Subject #1 but previously as #1498, was a test subject of the Aperture Science computer-aided Enrichment Center, and was involved in the testing of the Company's Handheld Portal Device (commonly known as the Portal Gun).

She is the silent protagonist of Portal and the single-player campaign in Portal 2. Very little is known of her past, beyond her possible abandonment at birth and her stubborn will to live.

Throughout the series, Chell is antagonized by the AI and facility overseer GLaDOS during her testing courses. Wielding only the Handheld Portal Device, she eventually utilizes this device as a means of avoiding hazards and

Overview
Much of Chell's past remains a mystery. .

During the events of Portal 2,

Portal
GLaDOS then generates two oval-shaped teleportation fabrics (portals) on a solid flat surface, with an entrance portal in the Relaxation Vault and an exit just in front of the exterior of the Vault. Chell exits from the Vault, however After completing her first test and acquiring an understanding the cube-and-button based mechanic, she is put through a series of tests to further explore and understand the use of portals.

As the testing progresses, Chell

Lab Rat
During the course of the comic, we are introduced to former Aperture scientist, Doug Rattman.

Portal 2
{{Spoiler|After departing from Old Aperture, the duo locate a test chamber that Wheatley is overseeing and attempt to disable him via a logical paradox. This fails, however, and they quickly find themselves solving Wheatley's own cobbled-together tests. Much like in the first game, Wheatley tries to kill Chell and GLaDOS, saying that he had found the perfect replacements for Chell. After a lengthy chase through the upper facility, Chell and GLaDOS are again in the Central AI Chamber with Wheatley. Chell furthers Wheatley's "corruption" by attaching corrupted cores to his frame, allowing for a second core transfer. Before Chell can do this, however, Wheatley detonates bombs that he had "booby-trapped the stalemate button" with in a last ditch effort to maintain control. However, Chell fires one last set of portals above and below Wheatley. These portals link together the Moon and the Central AI Chamber, and both Chell and Wheatley are sucked through into outer space. Seconds afterward, GLaDOS regains control of her chassis, rescues Chell, and closes the portals, leaving Wheatley to be lost in space. After a monologue, GLaDOS (supposedly) makes good on her promise, and delivers Chell, via high-speed elevator, to the surface above Aperture Science. As the elevator ascends, it enters an ampitheatre-like space, where a choir of turrets sing a farewell song to Chell. Chell's elevator emerges in a shed in a large field of wheat. Chell's Companion Cube is also sent up moments afterword, presumably as a token of "thank you" from GLaDOS. After expelling the Companion Cube, the elevator door slams violently, probably to indicate that GLaDOS does not want Chell to return to the Enrichment Center again.}}
Trivia
*
* Chell is modeled after actress Alésia Glidewell, and appears to be of mixed-race white European and East or Southeast Asian background, with dark hair and blue eyes.
* In Portal, Chell may sometimes emit small screams when hurt. However, these voice clips are simply archive recordings from Half-Life 2's female citizens, who were voiced by Mary Kae Irvin. This was then one of many things that received a retroactive continuity in Portal 2, as Chell no longer emits any pain groans whatsoever.
* Chell used to be the second partner seen in Co-Op. She was replaced by P-Body early in development.
* In the original ending sequence,
* Chell appears alongside several other Portal 2 characters in the Portal 2 Level Pack for LEGO Dimensions.
* GLaDOS states to Chell
Walkthrough
Intended Chamber Solution
*Place a portal on the wall where the Hard Light Bridge ends and the other one on the left side of the exit.
*Go through the portal and push the Switch.
*Continue to walk to the cube.
*Put the cube on the button.
*Use the portal again to proceed to the chamber lock.
Actual Course of Action
Escaping (Part 1)
*Wait for Wheatley to open the wall and run to the Maintenance area.
*Run to the left and continue forwards.
*Turn right on just before the catwalk ends.
*Turn left and jump down. Continue by to the right up the stairs.
*Run and jump forward as much as you can. Turn left and continue running and jumping.
*Jump down on the left side.
*Use the Bridge and run away from the Chamber until the Bridge disappears.
*Turn to the opposite direction and continue running and jumping.

Escaping (Part 2)
*Jump from the catwalk to the area between chambers and run forward until you get to the wall.
*Pick up the turret and knock over the turret behind it.
*Turn left and go behind the tube and knock over the third turret.
*Let go off the turret (make sure it gets knocked over).
*Open a portal on the wall near the third turret. Shoot the other portal behind the panels where the third turret is. Go through the portal.
*Run to the right and follow Wheatley until a turret is revealed on the left.
*Get rid of the turret by using a portal and continue following Wheatley. Enter the elevator at the end of the catwalk.
*Wait for the elevator to stop and go through the door.
GLaDOS: I've got a surprise for you after this next test.
GLaDOS: Not a fake, tragic surprise like last time... ... a REAL surprise with tragic consequences.
GLaDOS: And real confetti this time.
GLaDOS: The good stuff - our last bag.
GLaDOS: Part of me's going to miss it, but at the end of the day, it was JUST taking up space.
[LIGHTS TURN OFF]
GLaDOS: What's going on? Who turned off the lights?
Wheatley (with accent): Hey, buddy!
Wheatley (with accent): I'm speakin' in an accent that is beyond her range of hearin'. I know I'm early, but we have---
GLaDOS: Look, metal ball - I CAN hear you.
Wheatley (no accent): Run - I don't need to do the voice - RUN...
Wheatley: RUN!!!
Wheatley: Come on, come on!
Wheatley: RUN! Come on! I'm closin' the doors!
Wheatley: OK, quick recap: we are escaping! That's what's happening now: we're escaping. So you're doing great. Just keep running!
Wheatley: Err, quick word about the future plans that I've got in store.
Wheatley: We're gonna shut down her turret production line, alright, turn off her neurotoxin, and then confront her.
Wheatley: Again though - for the moment - RUN!
Wheatley: This way, this way.
GLaDOS: The irony is you're almost at the last test.
GLaDOS: Here it is. Why don't you just do it? Trust me, it's the easiest way out than whatever asinine plan your friend came up with.
Wheatley: Whaaa? How stupid does she think we are?
Wheatley: Oof.
Wheatley: This way, this way.
Wheatley: Come on, come on!
Wheatley: WAARGH!
Wheatley: What's going on in there?!
Wheatley: Can you--- can you get out?!
Wheatley: We HAVE to get you out of there!
Turret: (Who are you?!)
Wheatley: Try to make your way back out here!
Turret: (Malfunctioning!)
Turret: (Shutting down.)
Wheatley: I heard gunfire! A bit late for this, but look out for gunfire! Probably doesn't help at this point, but I have at least tried.
Turret: (Awww!)
Wheatley: This way, this way.
Wheatley: Turrets!
Wheatley: Go, go, go, go.
Wheatley: GET IN THE LIFT! GET IN THE LIFT!
Wheatley: We made it, made it, made it, made it.
This is the twenty-ninth level of the game, and is the first level to be set within a fully-repaired and functional Aperture Science Test Chamber. This level requires the player to combine precise Portal-placement and multiple Thermal Discouragement Beams in order to proceed.
*Place the other portal to the column facing the three Receptacles.
*Pick up the cube that is already redirecting one of the Beams. Place the cube in front of the portal, so the Beam activates the middle Receptacle.
*Pick up the other cube and place it over the beam coming from the ceiling. Aim it at the Receptacle on the right side.
*Go to the Chamberlock.
}}

It is also possible to complete this chamber without placing any portals if you position the cubes correctly and use a cube and quickly move the cube from side to side. If you do it correctly, holding down the strafe right movement key (default D) the door will open for a split second, letting you slip inside. This is a more difficult solution to the puzzle so the basic solution is recommended.
