* Go out to the end of the walkway and over against the wall on your left.  Crouch and look at the ceiling opposite.  To the right of it, you should be able to see a bit of the adjacent higher ceiling.  Shoot a portal there.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Shoot the second portal onto the walkway where you can move around it and look through.  Get into a position where you are facing towards the 4-dot platform with minimal obstructions.  There are some blocks sticking out of the side wall that can queer your shot here, so watch out for those.  &lt;br /&gt;
* This is the tricky part.  Crouch and step into the portal.  As you fall, shoot a portal across to the 4-dot floor, aiming for the left side of it. * This chamber has long stretches of portal-unfriendly surfaces, so there aren&#039;t many opportunities to use portal trickery to keep your step-count down.  The key technique for most of the way is the &amp;quot;bunny hop&amp;quot; which lets you cover long distances in a minimum of steps.  There are tutorials online, but in essence you need to move forwards and jump, then crouch &#039;&#039;just before you would land&#039;&#039; to maximize the jump length.  With good timing, and especially with forward momentum over longer courses, you can make considerable savings in steps.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Check your step count at each of these points.  If you are over the suggested count you probably aren&#039;t going to hit the target of 150 steps, so start again:&lt;br /&gt;
** Under the cube chute: 16&lt;br /&gt;
** At the first pellet wall, ready to go around the corner and run down the corridor: 32&lt;br /&gt;
** In the chamber with the two emitters, at the bottom of the steps to the second corridor: 50&lt;br /&gt;
** On the catwalk above the main chamber, with a view of the projecting panel: 84&lt;br /&gt;
* Place your red portal on the first pellet wall as soon as you reach it.  All the pellets you need will come from there, but it has to be the first wall: the second emitter shuts off as soon as either pellet is captured.  &lt;br /&gt;
* When you reach the catwalk, drop the cube and move out so you can see the face of the projecting panel below (your step count should hopefully be not much more than 80).  You don&#039;t need a great view of the face: the idea is just that you can place the blue portal on the wall directly facing you and make the pellets deflect off the edge.  With experimentation, it&#039;s possible to bounce pellets into both of the other chambers by doing this: use very small changes of the portal position to fine-tune it.  The third receptacle is easily hit by setting a portal on the sloping face.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Once the three lifts are up, use portals to set the cube on friendly floor where you&#039;ll be able to see it from the lift platforms: for instance, against the wall to the right of the doorway that leads into the small side-room.  Then portal yourself down. You want to be right of the doorway, but as close as you can get to the end of the portal-friendly tiles. You&#039;ll be placing a portal beside the observation window above this doorway, and you need to be aligned with that.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Turn back to face the wall and set your red portal beside the window, as high as possible.  Shoot the blue portal at your feet, then aim your fall so you go through the floor portal again and shoot out over the lifts.  Crouch as you approach the middle platform, and do a quick back-step to brake before you fall off.  &lt;br /&gt;
* From the platform, turn around and shoot the red portal beside the cube.  You want a corner of the cube hanging into the portal so you can grab it from the other side.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Carry on to the button room, using the bunny-hop where appropriate (but not for getting upstairs).  Stop as soon as you&#039;re on the friendly floor.  Put the blue portal on the floor beside you, crouch and reach through to get the cube.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Portal across to the far side of the button.  It&#039;s a short distance, but getting around obstructions can take a lot of steps.  Bunny-hop down to the switch room and finish the level.  &lt;br /&gt;
* &#039;&#039;&#039;Alternative strategy for the lifts&#039;&#039;&#039;  It&#039;s possible to raise only two of the lifts and then do a curved jump from the second platform to the escape corridor.  The technique involves simultaneously moving forwards, strafing right and turning right.  If executed correctly it will enable you to do a beautiful, hooking turn in mid-air, in open defiance of Newton&#039;s Laws.  &lt;br /&gt;

* It&#039;s possible to get the first energy pellet into the receptacle with just two portals, but it takes a bit of experimentation (using quick-save/reload).  The sweet spot for the exit portal is a bit to the left of where the lift is.  Let the pellet bounce around until it hits the receptacle.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Don&#039;t bother with the second energy pellet puzzle.  Get past the slime channel by shooting portals through portals:&lt;br /&gt;
** Go to the start of the channel and shoot one portal down to the far end and the other on the wall beside you.&lt;br /&gt;
** Creep through the portal just until you can shoot again without dropping through.  There&#039;s a telltale buzzing noise and the launcher sight changes.&lt;br /&gt;
** Shoot your &#039;&#039;exit&#039;&#039; portal down to the far end.  Go for the wall that faces around the corner, not the one facing back to you.  As soon as you shoot, step back: if you don&#039;t get out of the portal before your shot lands, you&#039;ll drop into the slime.  &lt;br /&gt;
** Edge through again and shoot a portal into the far chamber.  &lt;br /&gt;
* In the final room, put a portal at the foot of the victory lift, then step up onto one of the other platforms, put your second portal on the floor below and jump through.  Manoeuvre onto the victory lift platform as you fly up through the exit portal.  &lt;br /&gt;

* Run-jump to the emancipation grid and wait for the pellet to come out of your exit portal.  As soon as it emerges, cross the grid and place your two portals.  If your initial exit portal over the lift was accurately set, you won&#039;t have to let the pellet bounce and mark the wall for you before positioning your portal.  Wait again for the pellet to emerge from the exit portal, then run out immediately.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Don&#039;t wait for the lift: as soon as you see a gap, shoot a portal onto the wall above and the other at your feet to get you up there.  &lt;br /&gt;
* The next room has a wide area of dead floor in front of the entrance.  If you portal into it you&#039;ll end up having to run back to get into the side room with the steps.  It&#039;s quicker just to run-jump into the room, shoot your first portal back onto the projecting slab and dash into the side room to start your jump.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Use portal-through-portal (see above) to get over the slime.  Try to get your last portal near the centre of the final room, where the ceiling is portal-friendly.  Avoid the bouncing pellet, though - they have been shown to have a detrimental effect on human health.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Turn to face the victory lift, then place a portal on the ceiling directly above you and the other under your feet. The sweet spot for the exit portal is a bit to the left of where the lift is.  Let the pellet bounce around until it hits the receptacle.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Don&#039;t bother with the second energy pellet puzzle.  Get past the slime channel by shooting portals through portals:&lt;br /&gt;

* Make a save before attempting to throw the Cube onto the other button.&lt;br /&gt;

* When using floor portals, cancel your exit portal as soon as you pop out of it, by firing the same colour somewhere else.  This is easy if you have a portal-friendly ceiling above, but can be tricky if you have to cast around for a surface mid-flight.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Place a portal right beside the button and another right in front of the chamberlock. Jump through and cancel the exit portal.  With luck, you can do this in two steps.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Throw a portal onto the wall behind the cube and the other onto the floor in front of you.  Crouch down to pick up the cube without taking any steps.  Don&#039;t reach through a wall or you will have to step back to get the cube clear of the sides.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Set the cube on the button then fire a portal through the walkway and the open door onto the ceiling above the higher button.  Don&#039;t waste any steps while doing this.  &lt;br /&gt;
* Put your other portal on the floor in front of you then pick up the cube and drop it through.  You&#039;re trying to get it on the platform, not the button. &lt;br /&gt;
* Fire this same portal right under your feet so you drop through onto the button.  If you&#039;re on top of the cube, start all over again - from your last quicksave, that is ;-)&lt;br /&gt;
* Portal the cube onto the other button. If you can&#039;t see it, revert to an earlier save.&lt;br /&gt;
* Place a portal on the floor or the nearby wall, and another on the floor near the exit.&lt;br /&gt;
* Use floor-to-floor to get as close as possible to the [[Chamberlock]].&lt;br /&gt;
