Bugs
* If you activate one of the Thermal Discouragement Beam receptacles, then deactivate it and activate the other one (both with portals), GLaDOS will congratulate you the way she would if you finished the test normally, despite the test wasn't actually completed, as in, you can't go through the Chamberlock.

Easter Eggs
* You can see one of Rat Man's Dens in this chamber. To the right of the exit you can see a broken wall leading to his den. Two of his trademark murals are painted on the walls and there is a radio tucked away in a corner – it’s the only place in the game you’ll hear a song written and composed specifically for Portal 2, The National’s “Exile Vilify.” The lyrics are incorporated into the murals.

Trivia
* There is Wheatley hidden in this chamber, right under the panels that lift to give you access to one of the lasers. He appears only for a brief moment though.
Intended Chamber Solution
*Place a portal on the wall where the Hard Light Bridge ends and the other one on the left side of the exit.
*Go through the portal and push the Switch.
*Continue to walk to the cube.
*Put the cube on the button.
*Use the portal again to proceed to the chamber lock.
Actual Course of Action
Escaping (Part 1)
*Wait for Wheatley to open the wall and run to the Maintenance area.
*Run to the left and continue forwards.
*Turn right on just before the catwalk ends.
*Turn left and jump down. Continue by to the right up the stairs.
*Run forward as much as you can. Turn left and continue running.
*Jump down on the left side.
*Use the Bridge and run away from the Chamber until the Bridge disappears.
*Turn to the opposite direction and continue running.
Escaping (Part 2)
*Jump from the catwalk to the area between chambers and run forward until you get to the wall.
*Pick up the turret and knock over the turret behind it.
*Turn left and go behind the tube and knock over the third turret.
*Let go off the turret (make sure it gets knocked over).
*Open a portal on the wall near the third turret. Shoot the other portal behind the panels where the third turret is. Go through the portal.
*Run to the right and follow Wheatley until a turret is revealed on the left.
Sector Destruction
*Get rid of the turret by using a portal and continue following Wheatley. Enter the elevator at the end of the catwalk.
*Wait for the elevator to stop and go through the door.
The Intelligence Dampening Sphere, more commonly known as Wheatley, is a personality core of masculine programming and English West Country accent who appears in the single-player campaign of Portal 2.

He serves as the game's deuteragonist, guiding Chell through her efforts in escaping the Aperture Science Enrichment Center.

Wheatley is voiced by British actor and comedian Stephen Merchant.

Background
The Aperture Science Aerial Faith Plate, commonly referred to as Faith Plates or launchpads, is a mechanism introduced in Portal 2. This device launches players over a gap or to a specific destination at a set velocity and height. It can be used in conjunction with portals, and the Plate's ability to preserve the velocity of the user makes it an effective means of travel to far or otherwise inaccessible places.

Aerial Faith Plates can also launch any object that is placed on them. The High Energy Pellet is a puzzle mechanic introduced in Portal. It is a fast moving energy ball, fired by an emitter built into a Test Chamber surface and usually accompanied by a receptacle that catches it. Players direct the ball into the receptacle in order to activate lifts or devices before it dissipates and explodes. The ball is extremely volatile, and as such instantly vaporizes test subjects on contact. Turrets, however, will be knocked over by it.
clr

Portal
The High Energy Pellet was a common puzzle mechanic in Portal. It first appeared in Portal Test Chamber 06 and made recurrent appearances throughout the game. Test Chamber 19 features two versions of the High Energy Pellet, the standard yellow High Energy Pellet as well as a green High Energy Pellet. As the green one does not dissipate and explode, it is sometimes colloquially known as the Super High Energy Pellet.

Portal 2
The High Energy Pellet itself does not make an appearance in Portal 2; however, its emitter and receptacle do. These appear in Chamber 1 of Portal 2's second chapter, which is identical to Test Chamber 06 of Portal (albeit run down and degraded). However, this similarity is removed when GLaDOS replaces the items with those of the Thermal Discouragement Beam. They are also present in Chamber 7 of Portal 2's first chapter, as this chamber is simply a run-down version of Portal's Test Chamber 07. The catcher appears in the ruins of Test Chamber 19 from Portal and is visible once Chell moves towards the exit after being dropped in the incinerator.

The high energy pellet is actually functional in Portal 2, however it is missing its sounds and models, although there are fan-made modifications which restore its functionality.
Trivia
* The Energy Pellet uses the Combine Energy Ball model from the Half-Life series.
* The Pellet "refreshes" every time it passes through linked portals, meaning the player could keep the ball bouncing until they've discovered the solution to the current chamber.
* For a brief moment in Portal 2 Chapter 2 Test Chamber 1, the High Energy Pellet launcher and catcher can be seen being replaced with the Thermal Discouragement Beam.
This is the twenty-seventh level of the game and the first part of Chapter 4. It is set within a dilapidated Test Chamber, and requires the player to utilise advanced knowledge of the Hard Light Bridge and Thermal Discouragement Beam in order to proceed. This level features both Goo and Turrets as its main hazards.
Walkthrough
{{Spoiler|block=yes|
*Proceed to the spotlight in the dark room, where GLaDOS gives you the surprise. Afterwards just walk straight.
*Drop down to the test chamber and stay behind the Hard Light Bridge. Place a portal on the wall on the opposite side and another one below you.
*Once you've entered the portal place a portal at the ceiling where the Bridge ends.
*Place the other portal in the floor on the left, so the Bridge prevents the two Discouragement Redirection cubes from colliding in the air.
*Press the button and make sure that the two cubes do not get destroyed in the goo.
*Place a portal on the wall behind the glass wall and the other one on the wall behind you and enter the portal.
*Place the portal under one of the cubes, so that the cube enters the portal and fall near you. Then repeat.
*Turn to face the Thermal Discouragement Beam and place a portal on a wall near the Beam, so that you can take the two cubes safely near the beam.
*When you have the cubes near the beam, place one of them so the beam goes through two of the receptors.
*Take the other cube and use the beam coming from the first cube to destroy the turret on the other side of the room.
*Place the cube behind second receptor and aim it through the third one and the receptor in the wall to open the door.
*Place a portal in the ceiling in front of the Bridge and go stand near the exit.
*Place the other portal on the wall on the left side and use the bridge to get to the Chamberlock.
