The Hover Turret (also referred to as the Laser Turret) was an unused turret from Portal 2. The turret is still fully functional (Its a.i glitches out sometimes) and it looks like the curiosity core.

Functionality

The turret emits a laser and when the laser becomes deadly, it hurts any player that it touches in the same fashion as a Thermal Discouragement Beam. It takes some time for the turret to be charged again to hurt you. In that amount of time, the laser is not deadly at all. If it barely hits any wall or floor it explodes into little pieces.

Trivia

  • The little pieces the turret breaks into after being deactivated, have the model "glass_futbol" which was also an unused element.
  • The model that the turret uses is the exact same model of the curiosity core.
  • The laser it emits doesn't act as a barrier to the player, unlike the thermal discouragement beam.
